Still Summer in Alaska

It is 7:23PM in Fairbanks, Alaska and it is still 74 degrees!!



And look....across the street it is actually 2 degrees warmer. Sweet!

It's so nice to have a park less than a block away from our house.


John just loves driving his Escalade everywhere possible.


Eliana had fun in the stroller and on the swings with mama.


But by the time we walked home, she was out!

New Pool

It is the end of summer and they aren't selling a whole lot of summer toys, but it is still nice and toasty during the day in Fairbanks, so we decided to buy a pool. We found this for $21! What a deal! Our whole family fits in it and we still have plenty of room to move about. The bottom is cushioned and it is quite nice.
p.s. The kids love it too. :)

Final Day, Part 2

John was basically over the road trip by now. He had started wearing his dad's shirt on his head and even wore it inside a visitor center we stopped in. We figured that if this and the little marker tattoo incident were the worst things he did on this 2,235 mile road trip, we were pretty lucky. :)

Good old U.S. Border Inspection Station. The agent only gave us a little trouble about John's citizenship (she noticed that he was from Colombia when she looked at Eliana's birth certificate). She had a million questions, ok maybe 5 or 6, about John's path to citizenship, etc. but she promptly ended her line of questioning when I pulled out his US passport. :)

Ahh, the first American dollar price per gallon gas sign we'd seen in days. That was in Border City, Alaska. We stopped there for gas and dinner. The owners of the lodge/gas station/rv park/only place in town had 2 small kids and John was their instant BFF. They rode bikes and ran around for about 45 minutes.

So basically this was the last picture I took on our journey from Seattle to Fairbanks. Our plan was to stay the night in Tok that evening, but John got a second wind that took us all the way to Fairbanks. We arrived at 1:30am.

August 13, 2007.....we finally docked this beast in the driveway. :) YAY!
