Day 6

We stopped in Roseburg, Oregon tonight. This is a shot of the kids after a swim and a shower. They are just happy to be anywhere but strapped inside the car.

We should arrive in Nevada tomorrow afternoon. Yessssssss!

Day 5 - Still in Canada!

I had to take a picture of this. This dog has a sweatshirt with cut-off sleeves, a hat, and crooked goggles on.... while riding in a milk crate on his owner's motorcycle. I love it!

Eliana's new favorite show is Ni Hao Kai-lan. We hope to impress Uncle Paul with her mad Chinese language skills soon.

Day 2

Quote of the day: "This road sucks." John Barona (referring to the Alcan or Alaska Highway at 6:45am after driving for about 10 minutes)

Our day began early. We left Beaver Creek at 6:35am. The day was loooooooooooooong! We split the driving - I drove a million hours and John drove the other million. :) We arrived at our final destination for the night at 10pm. We arrived in Watson Lake at 8:30pm, and proceeded to check every hotel, motel and b & b for a vacancy - nada. We ended up backtracking about 18 miles to Nugget City where we stayed in a little cabin at the Northern Beaver Post. It was described as a 4-Star cabin, but we only had power until 12:30am, so the 4-Star description was lost on me.

Note to Nugget City..... you should change your name to Mosquito City. Just a thought. The mosquitos are INSANE there..... and I grew up in Alaska.

RVs passed: Alaska, Virginia, Alberta.

Wildlife sightings: moose, a baby bear, a red fox and a large grey cat of some sort.

Day 1

We left later than planned on Wednesday morning. When we got to North Pole the smoke started to get pretty thick and didn't clear up until about Tok. It was like driving through ice fog. The kids were troopers and slept quite a bit, watched movies, and colored. We ended up stopping in Beaver Creek the first night instead of Watson Lake.

We didn't get any lip at the border this time other than the lady telling us we should consider photo copying the kids' birth certificates and stapling them to the inside of their passports. Whatever lady. :)

RVs we passed today: North Carolina, Texas, West Virginia.

We are on the first day of our journey. So far so good. Kids are doing well. They have been sleeping for the most part. Just saw a sign - 123 miles to the Canadian border.
Pictures to follow this evening if our motel has wifi. :)
